I will be honestly French with you.
A few weeks ago, customers arrived at my front desk and showed me the box of cookies they had just bought.
“They are the best in the whole world according to the internet!” they said.
I smiled politely but thought “How could Amsterdam ever beat Paris when it comes to pastries?”
Of course, I had to investigate. So I went to the little shop full of curiosity and disbelief.
People were queuing! Can you believe?

I waited patiently about 15 minutes. Inside, the employees were just taking a baking tray out of the oven. The shop smelled like butter, chocolate, and gezellig-ness.
I bought a box and brought it back to the Recolo office, the box was still warm, and the smell mesmerizing.
“Who wants to give it a try? I was told they were the lekkerste ever”.

In front of my coworkers, I took away the plastic lid that was decorated with a light-bue ribbon, and an instruction card about how to store and re-warm the cookies for the best experience. A few seconds later, everyone was making “hmmm” sounds, their eyes closed, nodding as a way to express how much they were agreeing with my hotel guests…
And I had to admit that they were well worth queuing for!
